Agnes R. “Aggie” Hinnenkamp

Agnes R. “Aggie” Hinnenkamp, age 94 of Melrose, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, July 21, 2014 at the CentraCare Nursing Home in Melrose, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev.

Marvin Enneking officiating and Rev. Ken Thielman and Rev. Robert Kieffer  concelebrating.  Interment was in the parish cemetery.

Jeanette Heinen

Jeanette Heinen, age 93 of Spring Hill, Minn.,  passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014,  at the Minnesota Heart Institute due to surgical complications.  

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, July 19, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Spring Hill, with Rev. Marvin Enneking officiating.  Interment was in the parish cemetery.

Alcuin “Al” Ettel

Alcuin “Al” Ettel, age 91 of Freeport, died peacefully on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 surrounded by his family at the CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Melrose, Minnesota.

  A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 21 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport with Rev. Roger Klassen, O.S.B. officiating and Rev. Ken Thielman concelebrating. Interment followed in the parish cemetery with military honors by the Melrose Veterans Honor Guard.

Martha Lippsmeyer

Longtime San Diego resident Martha Lippsmeyer died on March 1, 2014, at the age of 98.

She was born in Melrose, Minn., on Jan. 13, 1916, and attended Business School in St. Cloud, Minn. She then worked for the War Production Board in Washington DC and later, the State Department.

At the end of World War II, while working for the State Department she attended many Peace Conferences in Europe as a stenographer. Here, she recorded the words of President Roosevelt, Stalin and Churchill.

Denis J. Wensman, age 77 of Greenwald, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, July 14, 2014, at the Mother of Mercy Nursing Home in Albany, Minn.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, July 19,  at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Greenwald.  Inurnment followed in the parish cemetery with military honors by the Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard.

Loretta Peterson, age 66 of Grey Eagle, died following a battle with cancer Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minn.

A funeral service was Monday, July 14, at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Grey Eagle with interment following in Moses Dane Cemetery.

Melvin Kohorst

Melvin Kohorst, 66 of Lismore, Minn., died Tuesday at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne, Minn.

Melvin was born May 14, 1947, in Farming Township in Stearns County, Minn.  He is the son of Herman and Elizabeth (Rausch) Kohorst.  He graduated from Albany High School in 1965 and then entered the United States Army Oct. 18, 1965. Melvin served stateside and overseas Germany and  Vietnam. He was honorably discharged on Oct. 17, 1971.
