Maus named new Melrose police chief

Melrose Police Sergeant Craig Maus will be the new Melrose police chief starting in May.

Councilmembers, during a March 3 special meeting, approved the hiring of Maus, who has been a Melrose police officer for 13 years, the last few years as sergeant.

The position opened up when current police chief John “JJ” Jensen, during the January council meeting, announced his retirement.

More information will be in next week's Beacon.
