A mother's memories
Rural Albany-Linda LaForge sat at her kitchen table last Wednesday holding a Mother's Day card she received from her daughter, Toni, a few years ago. The card stands on its own, like a paper bouquet, and has sat on top of her china cabinet ever since she got it in the mail.

Family fishing fun
Is it any wonder my nephews are avid fishermen? With a dad, uncle and grandpa who loved to fish that was bound to happen. Although none of them went out on the opener, I'm sure it's on their to-do list--soon.

A natural troll
I wonder how the Walleyes made their way to the deep holes of the Sauk River near New Munich. As the crow flies, it is not a long trip up from the chain of lakes near Richmond but as the fish swims or the canoe glides around the hundreds of bends and jaunts into the flatter lands, it is.

Memories of moms
We all have memories of our moms.

For me, it's the times mom and I sit outside in her swing on a warm summer day. Years ago neighbors Ginny and Tom Borgerding would stop in for a chat, often sitting down for a bit or Cyril Schreifels would drive on over on his motorized scooter.

Storm uneasiness
I was outside my comfort zone, during last Tuesday's storm.

When the storm came through Melrose those of us at Arts Night festivities were told to go to the girls' locker room. To men, this is more than forbidden territory, it is off limits.
